Kenneth and Joe were
sentenced to six months for defacing library books. In the prison cells at the
Guildhall there is a gibbet which was used to hold the body of a criminal. I
used the barrier to create prison bars on which I painted “Because we were
queer”. On the floor were the discarded pages from art books which had been cut
up. There was an audio clip playing of Joe talking about his time in prison.
