Kate Unwin Introduction
In 1999 I obtained a First Class Honours
degree in Interior Architecture at De Montfort University, Leicester,
specialising in Television Scenography. After graduating I worked in all areas
of theatre, unpaid, to gain experience. I painted sets, made props, did some
lighting, sound, crewing and counterweight flying. All of this experience led
to the position of Production Assistant at the Haymarket Theatre, Leicester.
After working there for six months I was given the opportunity to design my
first theatre production, Oedipus The King, in the studio theatre.
Since then I have worked on many diverse
projects all over the country and gained an enormous amount of experience. As
well as designing my shows I have been a production manager, set painter, prop
and costume maker, technical crew member and led workshops on various areas of
my work. In 2006 I started being employed as an art director on music videos.
